A 3-valve manifold comprises two block valves and one equalizer valve. These manifolds are employed with differential pressure transmitters to prevent instrument over-ranging. They operate by connecting two ports to the instrument and the other ports to the process. To achieve zero readings, you close the two block valves and open the equalizer valve
5-valve manifolds closely resemble 3-valve manifolds, featuring two block valves and one equalizer valve. However, they also include two additional vent valves. These 5-valve manifolds are widely used with differential pressure transmitters.
These differential pressure manifolds offer two types of mounting options: direct mounting and remote mounting. Direct mounting offers a cost-effective installation and maintenance procedures, reduces potential leak points, and suits applications with limited space or where shorter system lines are required. On the other hand, remote mounting offers advantages such as easy installation using tubing and tube fittings, compatibility with standard instrument manifolds, simplified maintenance, and enhanced protection of the instrument from elevated process temperatures.
